Borrowers / beneficiary need to make a claim for overpayment at Unclaimed Money, National Accountant Department. This matter is in line with the provisions under the Unclaimed Money Act 1965 (Amendment 2002) and claims can only be implemented by the Unclaimed Money Registrar's Office after it has been gazetted and is expected to start opening from June 1 of each year.
According to the Unclaimed Money Act 1965 (Amendment 2002), the definition of Unclaimed Money is money that is legally payable to its owner but has not been paid within a period of not less than one (1) year.
If no claim is made by the borrower within a year from the date the settlement letter is issued, LPPSA will send a "NOTICE OF EXCESS HOUSING LOAN BALANCE INFORMATION" to the borrower. The notice will be generated annually on every January 1st for loan accounts that meet the conditions to be sent to Wang Tak Claimed, Accountant General Department of Malaysia.

However, the letter will only be sent according to the borrower's existing information found in the LPPSA system. Accordingly, borrowers/beneficiaries are advised to always update the latest information as follows with LPPSA:

1) Mailing address
2) Phone number
3) Email address
LPPSA will only process credit balance claim forms received by LPPSA until 22 February only.

If no claim is received within the stipulated period, the excess money will be handed over to the Registrar of Unclaimed Money (WTD), Accountant General Department of Malaysia based on the Unclaimed Money Act 1965.
Borrowers / beneficiary can make inquiries using the LPPSA's Inquiry/Complaint Portal at https://etiket.lppsa.gov.my/.

If the amount has been handed over to the Unclaimed Money (WTD), Malaysian Accountant's Department, the borrower / beneficiary must refer to the Finance Department, LPPSA for review purposes.
